Summer 25 Stockholm – Cruising in the Baltic
About the Trip
This is the first ‘relaxed cruising’ week of the summer programme, after the passages taking the boat over from the UK. We’ll have the opportunity to go island-hopping around the Stockholm archipelago, mooring up in secluded coves and exploring the bigger islands. This trip is fine for complete beginners (we already have enough experienced sailors in the crew to be safe) and later on in the week we’ll be able to celebrate the festival of Midsummer.

Midsummer’s Eve
The end of this trip falls on Midsummer’s Eve, which is a national holiday and big celebration in Sweden. It marks the longest day of the year and the beginning of the summer holidays. A lot of Swedes head out on boats to islands in the Stockholm archipeligo to celebrate the festival. The festivities stretch from Friday morning all the way through the night to Saturday, whilst it never gets dark.
Your Skipper: Joe Dolphin
This will be my fourth summer programme with CUYC! I sailed with the CUYC 2022 summer programme (Balearics), was a first mate in 2023 (Norway) and then was a skipper for the first time last summer (Galicia). And then other than summer programmes I was a club vice commodore 2022-24 and have also been in the racing squad for the past three years. I am a final year PhD student at Sidney Sussex, so really this is just another way for me to procrastinate writing my thesis.

How much does it cost?
The trip costs the same as all the other summer programme weeks, so £285/£342/£456, depending on if you are junior/senior/affiliate status. Apart from the trip cost you pay when you sign up, there will also be expenses for food, marinas and diesal during the week. These will be sorted out on the trip via the Splitwise app, and usually come around to £100. You must also pay for your own transport (flights) to and from Stockholm.
Travel
You will need to arrange transport to and from the marina. We will try to coordinate this as a crew together in advance. Do not book any flights or travel until your skipper has confirmed your place and contacted you.
